NRDP received updates concerning COVID-19 (coronavirus) from U.S. Soccer Referee Department and Nebraska State Soccer Association. Below are highlights from each entity's update.

Nebraska State Soccer Association

“Based upon the available information and recommendations about ways to slow the spread of the virus, we have made the determination to suspend all Nebraska State Soccer sanctioned activity until at least April 1, 2020.

This applies to ODP training and events, Coach Education courses, Referee training, and state sanctioned league play (NYSL, CYSL, Sarpy, OSLS and NMSL).

At this time, we are not requiring our member clubs and organization to suspend their internal activities, although we do strongly encourage our members make the decision to suspend activities based on the recommendations of local authorities and school districts in their community. Clubs should evaluate their local conditions to determine the best course of action. Players’ and members’ health and safety should be the highest priority in determining ongoing operations.

It is our hope that we can resume normal activity after April 1. While these decisions are not made lightly, it is all our responsibility to do what we can to help slow and prevent the spread of the virus through our community and beyond.

Please stay tuned for more information coming from your team’s league on a revised schedule for Spring 2020.”

Note that April 1, 2020 is not a date that games will begin. This date is subject to review. Each league will revise their schedules, based on the current environment of the COVID-19, to determine when games will begin.

U.S. Soccer Referee Department

“As of today, U.S. Soccer has decided to postpone or cancel a number of scheduled events through April 30. This includes, but is not limited to, 2020 SRC Workshop; Development Academy regular season matches and the upcoming Spring Cup; all U.S. Soccer organized referee registration courses; and any other U.S. Soccer assigned games.

We recognize that these decisions have a real impact on you and your own programming, but in the interest of ensuring the health and safety of the soccer community, as well as that of the community at-large, we also recommend that members review your own programming schedule and assess the risks and benefits of postponement and/or cancellation of your upcoming events., including referee registration courses.”

In view of this information, all NRDP In-Person clinics, In-Person training sessions, In-Person courses and In-Person events will be postponed or cancelled through April 30, 2020.

All Online courses, Grassroots New Referee and Re-Certification, will remain open for registration and completion of all assignments.

Because of the fluid situation of the COVID-19, the information in this email is subject to change at any time. NRDP will make every attempt to push out the current information to you.
